GoTo Engineering Bootcamp: Powering up local talent to become

the next generation of tech leaders

Jakarta, 14 October 2024  - PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (“GoTo”, “GoTo Group” or “the Company”), Indonesia’s leading digital ecosystem, recently hosted its 2024 GoTo Engineering Bootcamp, equipping 43 newly graduated tech engineers with essential industry skills. Launched in 2018, the GoTo Engineering Bootcamp is part of GoTo Group’s commitment to empower Indonesian talent, transforming participants into the next generation of tech leaders.

Patrick Walujo, GoTo Group CEO, said, “Since its inception, GoTo has consistently nurtured the development of exceptional tech talent, as a way to drive innovation throughout our business. This is part of our mission and passion to support Indonesia’s growth. We also recognize the urgent need to develop and equip homegrown tech talent in line with Indonesia's rapid expansion and its potential to become the largest digital economy in Southeast Asia. This inspired us to initiate the GoTo Engineering Bootcamp. We are committed to developing world-class tech talent in Indonesia that will form part of the backbone of the country’s long-term progress.”

In addition, Puneet Goyal, Gojek Chief Technology Officer and GoTo Engineering Bootcamp Program Champion, also said, “More than just technical skills, this bootcamp equips participants with the mindset to channel their curiosity toward technology and the confidence to excel in their careers. Since 2018, over 250 participants have graduated from the program and secured full-time positions within Gojek and GoTo Financial. Ten percent of these graduates have progressed from entry-level roles to senior leadership positions. They continue to make significant contributions to our ecosystem by developing solutions that benefit our users and partners. We are proud to be part of Indonesia's dynamic tech industry and look forward to even greater advancements in the future.”

During the nine-week intensive bootcamp, participants sharpened their coding skills while also building a strong foundation about engineering principles. The program offered hands-on experience and direct learning opportunities from GoTo’s in-house engineering experts, as well as external coaches. Activities included coding challenges, professional development workshops, and one-on-one mentoring sessions.

In addition to hosting the Engineering Bootcamp, GoTo has also recently launched the GoTo Product Management Bootcamp, a comprehensive on-the-job training program for product managers featuring a world-class curriculum designed to support and accelerate the development of local tech talent.

GoTo has actively contributed to Indonesia’s digital transformation. According to research by LPEM UI, between 2018 and 2023, GoTo's presence at the city and regency levels resulted in an average increase of 2.2 to 3.1 percent in digitally skilled workers. In regions outside of Java and Bali, GoTo's presence correlates with a 3.3 to 4.25%  rise in digital talent during the same period.
