Jakarta, February 2, 2023 - The GoTo Group, Indonesia's largest digital ecosystem company, has officially partnered with PT Kereta Api Indonesia China (PT KCIC) to provide the best mobility experience by making it easier for the public to access the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train (KCJB).
On February 1, 2023, PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (IDX: GOTO) and PT Kereta Api Indonesia China (PT KCIC) signed a memorandum of understanding at the KCIC office in Halim, East Jakarta, to encourage the development of integrated transportation services and the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train (KCJB). The event was attended by the board of directors and management of PT KCIC, the Ministry of State-owned-Enterprise (BUMN), and other strategic partners.
Shobhit Singhal, Gojek's Chief Transportation Officer, who represented GoTo at the event, said: "We are thrilled to announce our partnership with KCIC, which will soon offer easy access to the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train, boosting productivity for the society who resides Jakarta, Bandung, and the surrounding areas. Our collaboration with KCIC shares the common goal of promoting the development and modernization of public transportation in the country and making high-speed trains more accessible to the public."
This collaboration will enable the passengers to access KCJB stations, including Halim (East Jakarta), Karawang, Padalarang (West Bandung Regency), Tegalluar (Bandung Regency) and other transit areas through the support of Gojek services such as GoRide and GoCar. The public will also be able to purchase KCJB tickets easily through GoPay. The partnership will also provide convenient pick-up facilities at the station. Singhal added, "Passengers can now easily access the best mobility services and buy tickets quickly, safely, and cashless, all through the Gojek application. This partnership demonstrates that Gojek can easily take users anywhere they need to go."
Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi, President Director of KCIC, stated: "We hope this memorandum of understanding will result in various forms of cooperation that benefit the community. Many other collaboration opportunities can complement the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train. We are grateful to GoTo for building an ecosystem that supports the development of public transportation. We hope this collaboration continues to thrive and results in many more breakthroughs for the community.”
GoTo and KCIC will continue to explore potential strategic collaborations to provide even more conveniences for the public, including the ability to purchase KCJB tickets through the GoTransit feature in the Gojek app. GoTransit is an innovation that allows passengers to access multiple modes of public transportation and streamlines their travel experience.
Singhal said, "As a first-mile and last-mile solution, Gojek makes it easier for people to maximize their travel with GoRide or GoCar services as a link between their starting point and the public transportation hub, or between the public transportation hub and their destination. The partnership aligns with KCIC's goal to make KCJB stations more accessible for people who want to use fast trains."
This collaboration will even strengthen the comprehensive partnership between the GoTo ecosystem and mass transportation providers in Jabodetabek and other areas, including PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KRL Commuterline), PT Transjakarta, and now KCIC.
Gojek's previous collaboration with Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) to facilitate the purchase of KCI tickets through the GoTransit service was well responded by customers. A few months after its inauguration in June 2022, GoTransit became the top choice for digital ticket sales, with a market share of 74% in September 2022. In 2023 the collaboration with KCI will also be expanded to cover operational areas in Jogja-Solo.
Shobhit added, "This collaboration reinforces Gojek's commitment to supporting the integration of multi-modal transportation. This integration can drive growth in public transportation ridership, positively impact the GoTo business, and increase driver partners' income when the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train (KCJB) begins operating."
GoTransit exemplifies one of GoTo's strategies for achieving profitability by offering value-added services to its customers. Based on GoTo's financial performance report as of September 30th, 2022, the gross transaction value (GTV) of On-Demand Services during the third quarter of 2022 reached IDR 15.7 trillion, growing 24% compared to the previous year, specifically for mobility services in the same quarter GTV growth was recorded at 111% year-on-year, with a recovery rate reaching 94% of pre-COVID-19 levels.
"Gojek through GoTransit will continue to encourage potential collaboration with various public transportation operators due to its win-win solution for all parties, especially people who get an easier, more efficient, and seamless mobility experience," Shobhit concluded.
